In a recent case in Pennsylvania, our client who resided in New Jersey was attending a conference at a Lancaster County hotel. As she was going down the stairs, she tripped due to the nosing at the top stair was loose and it was proven to be in this condition months prior to the accident.

Photos of the nosings in the stairway showed that the hotel tried using different screws and nails to keep the nosing in place. The plaintiff’s heel got caught on the loose nosing and she fell all the way down the entire flight, suffering injuries that ended her career.

Another stairway accident in Pennsylvania involved the tenant living in a large apartment complex.
